They say that the 'Battle was lost, but the War was won'; but it is actually 'a War was lost, but Battle was won'; and such number of Battles won, constitute a War, isn't it?!
They all say 'End of the Beginning' or 'Beginning of the End'!
The time of mostly defeats was over (the beginning) and the victories would eventually start outnumber defeats (the end). Is supposed to be the meanings.
Nobody says 'End of the Ending'!
