Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha have been together and were poles apart, both at the same time.
Yesteryear Bollywood movies had cabarets or dance sequences picturised on specific set of 'desi vamps' like Helen, Aruna Irani, Bindu, Fariyal, Jayashree T - Meena T, Kalpana Iyer, Asha Sachdev, Padma Khanna etc. Nowadays, a heroine or a lead role artist - actress performs both roles!
Vishwajeet, Rakesh Roshan, Suresh Oberoi, Raj Babbar, Navin Nischol, Bindiya Goswami, Kajal Kiran, Yogita Bali, Zaheera etc had a short but successful stint in Bollywood.
Heroines like Nutan, Nanda, Tanuja, Padmini Kolhapure etc played leading roles in Bollywood but not a single Marathi actor has been to the top, except to some small extent Nana Patekar. Not a single Hero!
Marathi character artists have ruled the Bollywood. Bhagwan, Ramesh Deo Seema, Viju Khote, Lalita Pawar, Sulochana, Shubha Khote to Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Dr Shreeram Lagu, Neelu Phule, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Master Alankar, Pallavi Joshi, Ashok Saraf, Laxmikant Berde, Varsha Usgaonkar etc etc!
