Er Rational musings #660

Er Rational musings #660

One of my school batch mate, Nitin Mundhe, (Dhumya), expired on this day, a year back.

All of a sudden. Without any symptoms or warning. Night before, he was enjoying chatting, jokes n all, in our Whatsapp group, consisting of about 25 class mstes. Till almost 11.30 pm. Next morning, a morning of the fateful day, he got up as usual, got the milk bags from the door, which milkman had left, as usual. He complained to his wife @ some headache. Neha, his wife, was about to apply balm to his forehead. But he went to deep sleep, on her lap, never to get up again in this world! Immediately shifted to ICU. Was in Coma. Brain dead. Life support system removed on 10th August 2015.

Why?

Nobody has the answer except the likes of 'destiny', 'काळ वेळ सांगून येत नाही', 'त्याच्या (!) मर्जी पूढे कोणाचे काहीच चालत नाही', etc. And so true, remarkably proved, one more time.

A singular moment can change EVERYTHING, within a fraction of a second. That's the irony of it.

Medical Science has grown leaps n bounds over the years. We are past the stage of a dose of 'home made' red liquid medicine in small bottle with dosage proportion marked with pasted paper (zig zag cut by scissors!) and 2 days medicine; that was all and enough. That's it. Those were the days of a 'family doctor'!

Now, we are into the stage of VSAI (doctor's use to diagnose everything with either 'V' for Viral, or 'S' for Seasonal, or 'A' for Allergy or 'I' for Infection!) and if nothing suits the decease (!), diagnosis would invariably be "Nausea!" Or, the classic master reason, "Food poisoning!!"

And never ending (hand in glove) story of laboratory tests n Xrays n scans n all begins.

Now, we have modern technology. We have new treatments (n tests!) for all ailments. Life is getting easier, thanks to great efforts of doctors fraternity; who are still, our demi-Gods! It's because of them that average life of person has increased. They are the healing touch, a hope! We @ll must thank them for unselfish yeoman's service provided by them to the society.

But, but, still a long way to go.

Can we 'produce' blood? No.

Can we 'manufacture' artificial human part? No.

Can we 'GUARANTEE' life? Unfortunately, NO.

Hence the enigmatic question remains; WHY?
