Er Rational musings #12

Er Rational musings #12

Table Tennis lingo(!)...

Casual. Come on. That's the way. Cool. Attack is the BEST defense. Fight. Too good. Sservice!. Take the lead. Love all. Maintain the lead. Calm down. Backhand पकड!. Point all. मटका. Luck favours the brave. Variation. Sshott. Difference of two. Lovely. Delicate. Kill!. Superb. Concentrate. छोड मत. Counter. Spin. Smash. Top spin. Push. Table मत छोड. Jab. Anti power. Pimples. Fast. टेबलाच्या आत ठेव. Speed. नेट जवळ खेळव. Return. High Toss. Chop. Watch the ball. Cross service. Pressure. Lazy. Placing. Keep it up. Easy. Loose. Ply. Tension. Rubber. Forehand. Backhand. जीतने का हैं. Shakehold. Penhold.

Penhold grip is possible (n allowed) ONLY in Table Tennis. Incidently, that's my grip! @nd in thousands of TT players in entire India, not more than 5 players played with penhold (also called as a chinese grip) since last more than 35 years, as far as I know of.

I started playing TT in @1979-80 and that too, with penhold. I was taught by my close friend K K Rai - गुरू/बाप player (migrated from Nepal in 1979), their erstwhile national player! We played many many open tournaments. And Inter office Bombay District Championships, @lso, many years..

We still play (I, for TP- leisure n he, as a professional coach!) and @re still very very good friends...

Thanks KK! Such a wonderful person you are...very rare to find such a selfless person...

A Memoir!
